As of this very moment...

Can it be? As of this very moment all of the laundry in the house is entirely done all at the same time! (Do I hear applause in the background? :))

Actually, I'm cheating just a tiny bit. The last load of laundry is currently in the washer but it's only towels. All of the clothes in the house are clean except for those on our backs! I'm pretty sure that the last time this happened was when we were a family of two so that's been 15 1/2 years!

I know it will only last a couple of hours until we all start changing into our jammies but I still thought it a newsworthy item. :)

Until next time...

Wow! Pig dissection...

Today was a homeschooler's dream! We got together with some of our friends and dissected a fetal pig. One of the moms in our group is a physical therapist so her anatomy and physiology training is fantastic. She led the kids through the dissection with such knowledge and enthusiasm!

Screwloose was in heaven! He's taking a biology class this year and had, up until today, only dissected a frog and an earthworm so this was great. Anyone who knows him knows that he has had a passion for science since he could talk.

Here are some photos of our day:

Here's On the Loose taking a peek:

And...here's a picture of the baby for good measure :-):

Thank you so much to my friend Donna for taking the time to perform this lab, yet again, for those of us who couldn't make it the first time. Thank you to Erika, too, for allowing us to dismember pigs in her yard. You gals give homeschooling moms a good name! :-)

Should I mention that our "specimen" came home with us today and Screwloose has been continuing the dissection all afternoon? The kid was born to be a scientist!

(Sorry about the formatting again! Good grief! Why can't I get this right?)

I'm such a bad blogger...

I can't believe that there are only two days left in April and I have only posted one blog entry this month! I am such a bad blogger! ;-)

I'm trying to figure out why that is. Do I just have nothing to say? Am I putting too much pressure on myself to be interesting or witty? Is comparison the death of contentment? I read some pretty great blogs and know that I can't possible "compete" with them. :-)

Maybe I just suffer from writer's block. I try to look for things to write about in my day to day life but, like Screwloose says, "You don't have anything interesting to say, Mom." :-)

Sharing more pictures is something I'd like to do, too. However, our camera is a monster and dragging it out to take a quick shot too much work.

In any event, I hope to become more consistent and I'm wishing for a little camera for Mother's Day!!

Home from Sedona...

We returned relaxed and refreshed this evening from a week in Sedona, Arizona. What a treat to spend time in a new three bedroom condo at our resort! I think it had about the same square footage as our house!

Because of our homeschooling and owning our own business, we are blessed to be able to get away on short notice. We planned this trip just two short weeks before we left. We still did school and hubby worked but it was so nice to get away for a bit; especially to such a beautiful place!

Here are Footloose, On the Loose and me in Uptown Sedona

Just some of the beauty:

Friday brought a special treat when my Five in a Row friend Julie and her family drove up to see us. We had a great lunch and did a little hiking with the kids.

On the Loose loved hiking! He even lay down in the dirt on one of our hikes and made "dirt angels." LOL!! He had so much fun walking by the creek, picking up "heavy rocks" and admiring the trees.

What a blessing to enjoy the beauty that God has created and to spend time together as a family!

(Well, I botched that formatting, didn't I? Can't figure out how to fix it. ;-))
