A Chrsitmas Giveaway...:-)

In the spirit of fun, laughter and friendship, I'm offering a Christmas giveaway!

Here is the prize:

To enter, tell me about your favorite gift you have ever given or received. Footloose and I will choose five of those entries. On the Loose will draw one of those randomly and Turned Loose will supervise for accuracy and honesty--you know, like those accounting firms that keep the Oscars above board.

These are the most delicious berries ever in spite of anything you might have heard to the contrary. ;) I look forward to sharing them with one of you!

We'll choose the winner on Tuesday, Dec. 16th. My blog is set to accept annonymous comments so anyone can play. :) Of course, if you leave a comment, be sure to sign your name so I know who I'm choosing.

Oh...Footloose--Family members will not be eligible to win the prize! :)

Merry Christmas, Friends!

How fun!! My favorite gift ever received was my stocking finally having something in it after 16 years of marriage. My favorite gift given (actually, it will be given this Sat.) is probably going to be this year. We are giving the kids a trampoline. I am sooo excited!!

What a neat idea Ronette. Thanks for letting me participate.

Blessings,

Michelle

HA! You are too funny! Love the chocolate covered strawberries! :)

My favorite Christmas gift ever...

Hmmm, my favorite gift from God is grace.

My favorite gift within my family is probably the year we gave the kids a kitten. I was more excited about that gift than one I've gotten in a long time. :)

When I was little, my favorite gift was my cabbage patch doll, light brown hair and freckles just like me. :)

Okay, this is not as redneck as it sounds, well okay, yes it is, but DH LOVED it.

I am giving DH a gift certificate to the local gun range for Christmas. We are going to go together and take the class to get our concealed carry permit.

How romantic, I know! :o) Dh has wanted to do this for years but we just never did it. SO that's my gift to him this year.

He knows already, and he told all the guys at the office and I am officially 'The Best Wife EVER' for this one! :o)

My favorite gift would have to be the diamond ring my sweet hubby gave me. This was the year after I lost my original one at work. He surprised me at Christmas with the new one.
I am sure I didn't deserve it, nor could we afford it, but he did it anyway!

Merry Christmas!

The best Christmas gift I ever received was two years ago my mom gave dh and I all our wedding proofs/pictures that we weren't able to afford when we got married. We were told by the photographer that they would keep them for five years, then shred them. We still weren't able to purchase them even after five years (we used a rather expensive photographer, plus were pregnant with our third baby by then, so there was no extra money to put toward the pictures), so I just put ever getting them out of my mind.

But early in 2006, the photographer died and his wife put an ad in the newspaper stating that she was selling all her husband's old proofs and negatives. We don't get the paper so we had no idea, but my mom had saw it and made an appointment just to see if somehow she still had our wedding pictures.

Well, she did! Mom bought all she had, including the negatives, and put them in a beautiful wedding album and gave them to us for Christmas. I was SO shocked! I couldn't believe I was actually holding all those pictures that were so precious to me. I hadn't thought of them in so long because I was convinced they were long-gone. We had been married for nearly 12 years when I finally got my pictures!

As far as the best gift I've given... that will be this year when I surprise my dh with his 61" TV that he wants so badly but 'knows' he won't get because of the price. He is the hardest working, most honest and sincere, Godly man I've ever known and never does anything for himself and I am SO excited to surprise him with the one thing he's wanted for a long time!

You are the bomb Ronette!

I have received some wonderful gifts every single year. But I have to say that last year when Jason gave me housecleaning service every other week for the whole year...well, that ROCKED!

You are too funny for having this giveaway!

Merry Christmas dear friend!

Aren't you a sweetie!

Thank you Sheri! I could not for the life of me remember where I read your story about snooping. Now I know!

My favorite gift would have to be the silliest thing ever. My husband gave me a big, hot pink fleece blanket one Christmas. I'm always cold in the winter and I just love to curl up in a ball with a blanket. This blanket has been my perfect companion in the winter and I have even snuggled up with a couple sweet little babies with it!

I'm not even entering--just had to say that you must WARN a person before you post something like this--I almost spit my dinner out laughing.

You are too much!

Ronette,

I have to play after hearing so much about these strawberries!LOL

The best gift I ever received:

When my father was alive, he always made a point to buy my brother and I a special gift just from him. (He later did the same for his grandchildren.)
The year I was 7 and my brother was 2, my gift was not very big, about the size of a brick and heavy. I was fascinated by it because it was shiny. He had wrapped it in aluminum foil! It glittered and sparkled like no other gift under the tree.
I was happy to find that it was my very own clock radio for my nightstand. But it's the memory of that gift under the tree that was so different from the rest, just for me from my daddy.

The best gift given:

Now that we have five children, we aren't able to do much, but every year at Christmas, we buy gifts that would suit a boy the age of our oldest son. Years ago, we would spend the same amount as we would for our daughter and then our third child. We would take those gifts and donate them to the children's hospital where Clint spent his life. He was there for his first and only Christmas and received so many gifts from the hospital that year. So, we use this as a way to remember Clint and to give back to the hospital.

Merry Christmas!

Ok, Well my sister and I usually give each other gag gifts and we have for years! One year, I had saved every tooth brush she used for the year which was about 12 because she brushed her teeth so hard they would be crazy looking and she would have to change toothbrushes every 4 weeks or so. I wrapped them up and gave them to her.
So then she started in the basement with a project and I wasn't allowed to go down in the basement or it would ruin the surprise for Christmas. Well, I was upset and I knew she was really going to prank me and it actually frightened me a little and I really wanted to see what was going on but even my mom wouldn't let me go.
So on Christmas I was really thinking and trying to figure out some really crazy gift she was making for me down in the basement. I think I was about 9 at the time and I didn't have any idea what joke she would play but she was good at playing the best jokes on people. When I opened my box I was shocked to find that my sister had been down in the basement for weeks working away at making me furniture for my barbie dolls! It was beautiful for an 11 year old little girl to make her little sister doll furniture for weeks so she could surprise me! Boy she sure did surprise me! I cherished that furniture for years! She went with a rubber chicken the next year and then it was passed between family members for years after that!

I love being able to post on your blog! I've often wanted to leave a comment. :)

What neat stories people have written! I've enjoyed reading them. I think it's a hoot that you are doing this too!

My favorite Christmas gift - it's hard to pick one. Though one recent one does stand out. (I'll be brief.)

It's been almost 2 years and I was expecting the most amazing gift for Christmas - a baby. What an incredible blessing to be due at the same time that we were celebrating the birth of the ONE who would change lives forever.

Our baby was due on the 24th and we were so excited to meet him/her after many months of praying for a little one.

Well, you know my story. Eliana was born - with a congenital heart defect and Down syndrome. The news was overwhelming for me. It was especially hard as I had prayed specifically for our baby not to have Down syndrome.

I didn't know then what God knew all along. This precious baby, while not what I asked for, was exactly what I needed. She has caused me to rely more on God, to pray more often, to see gifts and beauty in a whole new way and so much more. I am so very thankful for this precious gift - a perfect little girl. She brings joy, laughter and delight to everyone around her. She is truly a gift from God!

Thanks for letting me share.

Love,
Leslie

How fun, I love chocolate covered strawberries!

I think my favorite gift was my scrapbooking machine. Dh did all the research on the different machines and picked the one he thought was the best.

Merry Christmas!

I'm with Amanda on the whole warning thing! I had to stop and give my husband the whole back story. I am SOOOOO glad I don't drink at the computer!

Ok, after reading these stories, I don't think I have a chance, but it has been such FUN and a JOY to read them - many "aaawwhh!" type moments already.

I honestly don't remember Christmas gifts. As an adult, I haven't gotten many outside of the Almond Roca I really enjoy. ;) But for my birthday this year, my darling daughter (who is a gift all on her own!) did something very special for me. It was the best birthday I remember having. Here's my story:

My sweet daughter gave me the nicest gift I think anyone has ever done for me. Summer before the one we just finished, I had purchased a BUNCH of old buttons for her/crafts at a garbage sale. Well, recently, we'd "found" them again and there was one particular container I was really drawn to. They just reminded me so much of my grandmother (who had tons of buttons!).

I asked her if I could have them. No. I offered her money. No. An unreasonable amount of money. No. Could I have just a few? ....nn..maybeee... ok mom. So, I got a few.

Well, in the bag of shells (that she colored with a CRAYON!) that she'd prepared for me, what do you think was also there??
The BUTTONS!

How sweet is that?? I don't think I've ever been more proud of her. And touched. Usually the things people remember I like are silly things. And the little encounter when I'd offered her money was nearly 2 months earlier than my birthday!

The rest of my birthday was pretty great too.

My 6yo son gave me a walk around the block in the dark with a GIANT flashlight. (hilarious, don't you think??)

My mom have me a ring. She and I both got rings from my dad when I turned 11. Well, mine got stolen by a "friend" in high school. Mom gave me the one she'd gotten. (Which I liked better than mine!) Diamonds and sapphires in white gold.

My husband bought me a pumpkin cheesecake. (nummers!)

My uncle gave me some perfume. It was not bad. He isn't known for good choices in women's toiletry so this was pretty impressive.

It was probably the nicest, most relaxed birthday I've ever had.

Thanks for reading and letting me share!

On the practical side, I'll go for my mac. Oh the hours saved over the last 2 years in NOT rebooting the computer when it crashes. Woohoo!

On the emotional side, I'm going to say the best Christmas present I ever received is the warm fuzzies, and I'll blog about that tomorrow when your giveaway is over so that you have to come read my story on my blog. :D

Am I too late?! The best gift I ever received is also the same one I gave to my husband. Our precious daughter was due Christmas day, and arrived a few days early! She is our little sunshine!
